Rarely do we get to feast our hungry eyes on limited edition anything before it hits, but here is a delicious sneak peek behind the scenes at Free People.

It's so cool to get to hear what the designer had in mind when she carefully crafted her dream dress. My personal fave is the ballet inspired dress - those tiny bells and ruffled skirt are just begging me to hit the dance floor! The perfect pick for holiday parties.

Even more interesting is how Free People is delving into coordinates (the second dress shown can be worn together or separately - the corset would be smashing with a bomber jacket and bright-ass lipstick, the skirt layered to the teeth with tall riding boots), which is hilariously reminiscent of my grade three teacher but obviously much....MUCH, cooler :)

Being a junk-store junkie and history nerd, I can't help but agree with Highsnobette in that I'd love to hear more about the origins of their textiles and patterns... Maybe next time we'll get a tutorial on the where's and how's of sourcing those beautiful fabrics.

John Varvatos has always linked his fashion brand tightly with the musical realm, from buying the historic CBGB space on New York’s Bowery and turning it into a rock ‘n’ roll-themed store to featuring the likes of Iggy Pop and Dave Matthews in previous ad campaigns. Bridging out a little bit from his usual suspects of aging rockers, Varvatos has recently tapped The Roots, who the designer has referred to as “one of the most innovative musical forces on the planet,” to front his 2011 Fall/Winter ad campaign. Not merely content with swathing the four-time Grammy-winning group in his trademark punk-inspired takes on luxury tailoring, Varvatos also commissioned them to perform an original track during the campaign’s shoot at Republic Airport in New York. Luckily for fans, the dope result has been chronicled on video for all to enjoy.

The jeans offer 4 way stretch, antimicrobial treatment to keep off stains & keep them smell-free, re-enforced buckles, back zip pocket, contour waist, 3M reflective taped inseam, u-lock holster & victory tab.

The jacket has back vents, 3 jersey stash pockets, a scooped tail & re-enforced accordion sleeves. Denim isn't the traditional material for cycling, however these improvements make it a stylish competitor or at least an amazing alternative to throwing on spandex every time you want to go for a ride.

Bill Cunningham has been photographing street style since 1978. He is the main style photographer for the New York Times and is, in fact, a legend. He got his big break when he luckily snapped a shot of Greta Garbo on the street, showed it to her, she loved it and thus started a new means of distributing fashion photography.

This week, a documentary on Bill Cunnigham will be released, entitled "Bill Cunningham: New York"- all about his life as a street photographer. Here is the trailer:

This was something I realized early on: if you just cover the designers in the shows, that’s only one facet. Hey Friends!

So hopefully you all were following me on Twitter.com/flavourfashion this past week when we were reporting live from the Las Vegas trade shows doing all of our purchasing and brand sourcing for next fall 2011 season (if not get on that son).

It is one of the biggest shows in the world and is 8 shows in a 4 day period at 4 different hotels and conference centers with thousands and thousands of vendors with lots of clothing perfect for Plush, Flavour and SOS!

We saw some amazing free intimate concerts with NERD and BRMC Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, met the Black Keys and got to book and meet some shoe guru's in Steve Madden and Jeffery Campbell.

We picked up tonnes of new designers for all 3 stores which we will be revealing and promoting over the next 3 months, so stay tuned to our Facebook pages and blogs to stay up to date with all of our new signings.

I don't know about you, but I love being cozy and comfy. The trouble here is, I also love to be fashionable and put together. Pretty much, I want to be lazy in the morning and not have to think too hard about that PERFECT outfit. Ideally, I want to throw on a sexy pair of jeans and a comfy top everyday of my life.

However, while perusing through my favourtie brands current lookbooks, I was amazed to see many of them are feeling the same way I am. Perhaps its the time of year when most of us have packed on the holiday pounds and are feeling less than happy with the way our jeans have been fitting...

Mink Pink's Fall/Winter lookbook showcases a fab collection of boyfriend style jeans, crop tops, plush velvets, and comfy AND forgiving fabrics! I love this collection because its loose, easy, and comfy without looking sloppy. Perfect for these drab winter days when fashion is not always on our mind...

I saved the perfect pair of flare jeans from highschool. Even after gaining that freshmen 15...er 25...i stored them deep in my closet knowing that one day i would love them again. Sure enough, last summer i pulled them out (they fit!!!) and while i wasn't quite ready to re-embrace the flared bottom trend, i again put them to rest in my closet. During my most recent closet purge i mindlessly threw them in the "give-away" pile. In the meantime, I cannot tell you how many times i have cursed myself for doing so. So. here i am. on the hunt for a perfect pair of flared/bell bottomed jean.

I know it may be a tad early to begin thinking of spring-time fashion however, Free People's January lookbook is PACKED full of beautiful layer pieces that are perfect for winter! As we have seen in last year's lookbooks, FP is still loving the modern crochet, flowery prints, basic nutrels, and heavy knee high socks. This collection flirts with springtime by showcasing sleepwear inspired pieces layered with plaid, leather, an unusual prints. I love this because it is unexpected, cozy, sexy, and chic.

IMO, Free People can do NO wrong. What do you guys think?

With Spring '11 just around the corner I'm getting excited for the next "it" item. Being a self-admitted trend whore I want, no I need, that item in my wardrobe: I believe it is going to be crochet.

We saw a little bit of it this Fall, mainly in black, but come Spring I think it is going to be big in taupe, olive, or khaki (trend #2). Especially paired with chiffon (trend #3); knight cat is showing the look perfectly.

Let thoughts of Spring keep us warm!
